All right guys put down those torches and pitchforks (Get it, forks?) :)) It's not your boss coming and cutting half your salary. It's just some healthy re-distribution of something that didn't make any sense before.
If you are one of those thinking steemit is in a perfectly fine place and doesn't need a change then I honestly don't know what rock you have been hiding under.
The whole platform is stagnant and controlled by bid-bots, okay? Currently finding good content is harder than navigating through a desert without a map or compass.
Besides, "money/steem doesn't just go out the window, okay? You will just start earning it through curation. Whether you will earn more or less than before is impossible to say from a small minded individual like me.
What IS safe to say is that in a way your hard earned steem power are much more valuable than before. You will get those sweet 50% curation instead of our laughable current 25%.
In fact, your ROI through curation should potentially double, unless I misunderstood something here?
That's pretty fucking magnificent and anything they creates more reason to hold steem power is good in my book. Also it might get all of us lazy people out there to start doing some prober curation. That, and make it a bit harder for the life of the abusers with our new down vote super power
Steemit has been in need of a overhaul for a long time
There are times where I get more comments from robots than actual people, that's a bit depressive considering this is a social platform.
So many content creators, so few people to consume the content. The unbalance in this is so clear and there has to be more incentive to make it worth it for people to actual curate.
The mana pool for down voting is also gonna be interesting to see how it's gonna effect bid bots, bot abuse and auto voting.
I am willing to pay a little on my author front-end to have some more motivated people actually coming by to my posts instead of some stupid robot telling me what my rank is in some stupid metric. Hell, I would love to feel motivated myself looking for prober content to curate.
Of course it's probably not gonna become like that straight away. But at least these improvements are (hopefully) gonna help us get us in a straight path and make way for people actually being motivated in curating. I got example don't give too much shit about curating. All my votes goes to Auto-votes on specific people and the rest sold on smartsteem.
Yeah I know I'm a terrible human being just like you but the truth is so are 90% of everybody else here.
I know the steemit is doing it right if I personally will start doing manual curation. So that's going to be my own measurement. (it can also be yours if you like)
So I am thrilled that our witnesses are taking the bigger steps.
I know a lot of people are saying stuff like "But why don't we just make small changes, one at a time?"
We are in a competitive market and are fighting for gaining the spot as the social media crypto currency. Right now we are loosing it seems, so if we know what's need to be done why not just do it?
I absolutely love when steem is going from some bold changes like this, it's exciting and this change actually sound so bold and drastic that it might actually work. (not just the 50/50 split but the whole hardfork).
