Acting on the Independent Circuit
How I got Started?
I actually fell into it...honest! Let me begin by saying that I consider myself as a writer. Maybe not so much of an accomplished writer but I love to write none-the-less. I never went to school for writing or received any type of training (at first), but I applied for writing jobs through the website Freelancer.Com.
At Freelancer.Com I applied for writing jobs (or "gigs" as I like to call them) that would call for writers to write articles that would be displayed on websites. These jobs could be anything from service and/or product reviews to celebrity gossip. I taught myself how "search engine optimization" (SEO) works by writing interesting content that affects the visibility of a website or a web page that will appear in a web search engine.
Anyway, one day an independent filmmaker noticed my work and liked what they saw. They enjoyed my creativity and asked me if I would like to be in one of their productions. I'm not really sure what they saw but I'm guessing they enjoyed my imagination. Like I said... I fell into it.
One thing lead to another and the next thing I knew I have an agent, an IMDb account and I'm standing on film sets next to professional actors like Colin Farrell and Kurtwood Smith. I haven't broke into Hollywood yet, but I can totally see my future going in that direction.
I'm still on the independent circuit and I'm really enjoying this wonderful journey. If you would like to see a bit of my work, I posted a link to a web-series that's currently on YouTube. The web-series is titled The Collector and it was created by Aspire Productions. I play the role of "Vic" who is a low level street thug who meets his match during a poker game.
