Traveler of the River - Manuel Yánez
Viajera del río, is a waltz, created by the Venezuelan composer Manuel Yánez. It is an iconic piece from the Guayana region, Bolívar state. It was composed by Manuel when observing from the boardwalk of Ciudad Bolívar the clusters of the bora aquatic plant, when moving in a canoe, through the Orinoco river.

Manuel Yánez was a Venezuelan musician and composer, interested from a very young age in music and folkloric rhythms such as Christmas parrandas. In three years he made some 150 compositions, including Creole meringues, waltzes, double steps, boleros, salsas, patriotic songs, joropos, guarachas, among others.

Walking once
by the esplanade -
delighted I stayed
seeing a flower
scenting the river.
It was angelic
like the orange blossom
and ran and ran,
crossing the horizon -
it got lost.
I wanted to touch it,
I wanted to hug it,
I wanted to love it like you.

to contain
the force of the river.
And it was hiding itself
and it went away,
later it disappeared.
The years passed by
and the arcane of time
took it away from me.
That's why in my dreams
when I remember of you,
I go sad on the esplanade,
To see if the river
changed the current
and to see my flower again.
There are innumerable versions of this wonderful romantic waltz, as this song became a bestseller in the Venezuelan musical repertoire.

Viajera del río, es un vals, creado por el compositor venezolano Manuel Yánez. Es una pieza icónica de la región de Guayana, estado Bolívar. Fue compuesta por Manuel al observar desde el malecón de Ciudad Bolívar los racimos de la planta acuática bora, al desplazarse en canoa, por el río Orinoco

Manuel Yánez fue un músico y compositor venezolano, interesado desde muy joven por la música y ritmos folklóricos como las parrandas navideñas. En tres años realizó unas 150 composiciones, entre merengues criollos, valses, pasos dobles, boleros, salsas, canciones patrióticas, joropos, guarachas, entre otras.
