This is Anna, my youngest daughter. She is 13 years old and, except for her first two years of life, we have spent little time together. She was two when her mother and I divorced and, even though we were still living in a same city, you know how it works when couples split. It is never the same to raise a child as a team than from two separate courts.

When her mother moved to a city a thousand miles away, amid a gas crisis, I knew our chances of seeing each other often were slim. Then, came Covid-19 and things got really complicated.
It had been two years since we last met and yesterday we had the pleasant surprise.

She is taller than manujune@manujune now and probably taller than imabby17@imabby17 too.

For less than 24 hours we got the chance to try to catch up. That’s impossible obviously, but we tried to do as much as we could with the time available.

We communicate every day, of course, but it is never the same.

We went to the biggest mall in town. The only one that offers a bit of what big cities anywhere in the world have. Some amenities were not available, though. The bowling alley was closed, for instance.

We had a good time walking around the mall. We met some old friends we had not seen in a while too.

Food was great

And so was the dessert (cheesecake with ice cream)

I know it has been said enough, especially by Venezuelan Hivers, but this kind of moments are possible thanks to #Hive.

We don't come here very often. In fact, we rarely come here, but malls here (and I guess elsewhere) work as an escape mechanism that in our case is more than justified, even if you have to pay a bit more for a similar service or good.

For my daughters, I can do many things. Pay more for a pizza or even walk on glass.

We ended up doing something the three of us had not done since the mall opened: walking on the glass floor.

It was fun, but coincidentally, yesterday I had watched a certain episode of Squid Game that makes walking on glass, especially with your daughters a very traumatic experience. But, I was supposed to give them courage. I think I did (even if I was shaking inside 😂).

We had a wonderful night.

It was beautiful to see them have so much fun.

Going to the movies was not an option. It is located in another mall and transportation is an issue. So, we settled for some movies I had downloaded in my laptop. We also watched some of the videos from manujune@manujune’s performances.

With a heavy heart I said good bye to my daughetr at noon today. Hopefully, we'll see more often next year.

I know she needs us as much as we need her.
I know it is hard for this young generation to grow surrounded by so much uncertainty and so many limitations. Their joy is our joy and we only wish we could always make them smile those big beautiful smiles!
