Greetings, everyone
Do not let these charming eyes fool you. Behind this needy countenance lies an aggressive, bossy, and cerebral personality that is making other cats and humans seriously consider murder-plotting.
After many years begging to have pets, my daughters got a cat. The decision had been delayed because they did not seem to have the "vocation" to take care of any living thing (they did not do very well with Pancha, the turtle, who somehow does not count as a pet for them given turtles poor--read nil--social/feelings expression skills).
Before there was a Chimuela there was Clementina. She was my daughters' first pet after they let a turtle go and get lost (probably stolen). Clemen was a charming cat with a poor eye to choose a mating partner. Like most teenagers, she chose the worst cat in the neighborhood and was driving everybody crazy with her noisy and rather scandalous escapades. They were lucky enough to have her sterilized on time.
Then, came Rosy. They could not resist her blue eyes and decided to adopt her too. They would also sterilize her and spare themselves the horrible experience Clemen had taught them. Right?
Rosy was even more precocious in sexual affairs and before they could blink she was with kitties.
And that's how this little thing came to be.
Chimuela is the living proof that cats have several lives (I won't argue about the number. I just know as a fact they can survive impossible encounters with death). This little rascal used her first life to outlive her brother and sister. They died within the first weeks. I won't go into the details that might evidence some negligence on the part of my daughters. I'll only say that before they went on a short vacation Rosy had three kitties; when they came back she had two and a second one died shortly after.
Sneaky Chimuela, "the kitty that lived," was obviously pampered beyond her deserts. But, after a while, even her mother realized they needed to do something about it. She felt she could push anyone around, including the humans in the house, who she bit at her will.
Rosy is not buying any of her crap. Speaking of which, that's how my daughters and their mother started to develop some animosity against her. Chimuela showed total disregard for cats' instinctual pooping rituals. She could not care less about sand boxes or sandy patio. A bed, preferably one with clean sheets, was her best place to put fresh shit. Rosy and Clementina started to resent her because more than once they paid for Chimuela's irreverence.
Screw maternal instincts!
And this is how Chimuela got to use her second life. One afternoon, after forgiving without forgetting countless bites, vomits, crapped beds and pillows, and stumbles (allegedly caused intentionally by Chimuela), my daughter, Vivian got home from school tired and hungry only to see Chimuela, who apparently wanted my daughter to see her do it, climbed on the table and steal her food!
She had had enough. She grabbed the evil-doer after chasing her around the house, and threw it over the fence.
Seconds later, she'd regret her impulsive and criminal actions. Stand and Doche were just in the area and corralled the poor thing.
You can see Stan, elegant alpha dog, and certified cat killer, pictured here as an unwanted intruder in a family photo.
And here is Doche, the champion cat slayer of the neighborhood. I have to give her cookies every time I visit my daughters lest she bite me.
By the time my daughter ran around the house to rescue Chimuela from the jaws of death it was too late. Both dogs had had their time with her. They bit her mercilessly and even chopped off part of her tail. You can imagine my daughter's consternation. The mangled ball of fur was given up for dead.
Again, she became the object of adoration and concern. All cares and all attention and love was unexplainably given by both humans and cats to a source of much mortification. And there she was some days later, as good as new. She was so good at healing that she even grew a new tail. I'm not making this up. You look at it and you'd never guess she had part of her tail ripped off by two rabid dogs and her whole body stabbed by huge teeth.
How did she thank my daughters, Clementina, and Rosy for all their love? By stealing more food, tearing things apart, and crapping all over.
And that's how we get to this.
Rosy and Clemen plotting how to get rid of evil Chimuela. I know what you're thinking. That first picture. How can she be...
You know what they say about cats, "Like politicians, the only thing cats worry about is how to screw you better next time."
