Who is richer?
ဘယ္သူက ပိုခ်မ္းသာလဲ
There was a boy, whose family was very wealthy.
အရမ္းခ်မ္းသာတဲ့ မိသားစုမွေမြးဖြားလာတဲ့ ေကာင္ေလးတစ္ေယာက္ရွိသတဲ့။
One day his father took him on a trip to the countryside, where he intended to show his son how poor people lived.
တစ္ေန႔ေတာ့ သူဆင္းရဲမ်ား ဘယ္လိုေနထိုင္ၾကရတယ္ဆိုတာကို သူ႔ကိုုျပခ်င္လို႔ သူ႔ရဲ႕အေဖက သူ႔ကို ေက်းလက္ေဒသကို ခရီးထြက္တာေခၚသြားေလရဲ႕။
So they went to a farm of a very poor family.
ဒီလိုနဲ႔ သူတို႔ဟာ အလြန္ဆင္းရဲလွတဲ့ မိသားစုရဲ႕ စိုက္ပ်ိဳးေမြးျမဴေရးျခံသို႔သြားၾကတယ္။
They stayed there for several days.
အဲဒီမွာ သူတို႔ သံုးေလးရက္ေလာက္ေနခဲ့ၾကတယ္။
On their return, the father asked his son whether he liked the trip.
အိမ္အျပန္လမ္းမွာ အေဖက သားကို ဒီခရီးထြက္ရတာႀကိဳက္ရဲ႕လားလို႔ေမးသတဲ့။
“Oh, it was great, Dad,” the boy replied.
"အိုး၊ အရမ္းေကာင္းတာေပါ့ အေဖရယ္" လို႔ေကာင္ေလးကျပန္ေျဖတယ္။
"Did you notice how poor people live?” asked the father.
"ဆင္းရဲတဲ့သူေတြ ဘယ္လိုေနၾကရရွာတယ္ဆိုတာ သတိထားမိရဲ႕လား" လို႔ အေဖကေမးသတဲ့။
“Yes, I did,” said the boy. The father asked his son to tell in more details about his impressions from their trip.
"ဟုတ္ကဲ့၊ သတိထားမိပါတယ္" လို႔ေကာင္ေလးကေျဖတယ္။ အေဖက သူ႔သားကို ဒီခရီးနဲ႔ပတ္သက္လို႔ သူ႔ရဲ႕ထင္ျမင္ခ်က္ေလးေတြကို အေသးစိပ္ေျပာျပခိုင္းျပန္တယ္။
“Well, we have only one dog, but they have four of them. In our garden, there is a pool, but they have a river that has no end.
"ဟုတ္ကဲ့၊ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔မွာ ေခြးတစ္ေကာင္သာရွိေပမဲ့ သူတို႔မွာ ေလးေကာင္ေတာင္ရွိတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ပန္းျခံထဲမွာ ေရကန္ေလးရွိေပမဲ့ သူတို႔မွာ အဆံုးမရွိတဲ့ ျမစ္ႀကီးရွိတယ္။
We’ve got expensive lanterns, but they have stars above their heads at night. We have the patio, but they have the whole horizon.
ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔မွာ ေစ်းႀကီးတဲ့ မီးအိမ္ေတြရွိၿပီး သူတို႔မွာေတာ့ ညဖက္ေမာ့ၾကည့္လိုက္ရင္ ၾကယ္ေလးေတြရွိတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔မွာ မိသားစုေပ်ာ္ပြဲစားထြက္ဖို႔ အိမ္ေဘးကကြက္လပ္ေလးရွိေပမဲ့ သူတို႔မွာေတာ့ မိုးကုပ္စက္ဝိုင္းႀကီးတစ္ခုလံုးရွိတယ္။
We have only a small piece of land, while they have the endless fields. We buy food, but they grow it.
ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔မွာ ေျမကြက္ေသးေသးေလးတစ္ကြက္ပဲရွိေပမဲ့ သူတို႔မွာ အဆံုးအစမရွိတဲ့ လယ္ကြင္းျပင္ႀကီးေတြရွိတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔က စားစရာကိုဝယ္စားရေပမဲ့ သူတို႔က ကိုယ္တိုင္စိုက္တယ္။
We have high fence for protection of our property, but they don’t need it as their friends protect them.”
ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ရဲ႕ စည္းစိမ္ဥစၥာေတြကို ကာကြယ္ဖို႔ ျခံအျမင့္ႀကီးခတ္ထားရေပမဲ့ သူတို႔ရဲ႕မိတ္ေဆြေတြက သူတို႔ကိုေစာင့္ေရွာက္ေပးလို႔ သူတို႔ျခံကာထားဖို႔မလိုဘူး"။
The father was very surprised. He could not say a word.
အေဖဟာ အံ့ၾသလြန္းလို႔ ဘာစကားမွမေျပာႏိုင္ရွာဘူး။
Then the boy added, “Thank you, Dad, for letting me see how poor we are.”
" ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ဘယ္ေလာက္ေတာင္ဆင္းရဲတယ္ဆိုတာကို ျမင္ေအာင္ျပေပးလို႔ ေက်းဇူးပဲ အေဖေရ" လို႔ ေကာင္ေလးက ထပ္ေျပာလိုက္သတဲ့။
