I feel those in my neighboring compound need to be enlightened on the difference between music and noise.
Literally, noise is any sound that is not pleasing to the ears. Scientifically, noise is a sound intensity of over 70 decibels (70 db). Looking at both definitions, you can agree with me that any sound terribly harmful to our eardrums is noise.
What led me to this? It is about my neighboring compound. The neighbors actually have a portable speaker in which they use in playing all kinds of music once it is connected to the phone through Bluetooth.
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I do love the music they play because of its lyrics or harmony, but my issue is the volume at which they play.
Often times they join to sing along with the music at the top of their voices and I end up detesting the whole stuff.
At some points, one would wish to be read, think or strategize plans. But the noises won’t help matters and ends up making one so unhealthy and uncomfortable.
Noise is also a type of pollution and every pollution is detrimental to the human health. I am of full support that music is food to the soul, but when there is a touch of noise, it is no longer food but poison.
Furthermore, music has a lot to do with the personality of a person. You’ll agree with me that a person who enjoys to listen to Burna Boy’s music is different from one who listens to Beyonce’s music because they are in different genres of music.
At the same time, one who lives in a calm environment has a different taste of music to one living in a noisy environment; however, as long as you are in a residential area, please not all music that are welcoming except the volume is properly regulated or something.
So to come to a conclusion of what happened. I had to meet them (my neighbors) and enlighten them on how music can result noise when not well organized. They really appreciated me and as I am talking to you, we are living peaceably with good music being played day in day out 😊.
In conclusion, all I’m saying in essence is enjoy your music with no iota of noise. But when noise comes in, your music automatically becomes a BALONE.
