Welcome everyone,
The Weligama area is famous for its popular fishing activities located on the south coast, but now it is widely known for tourism and surfing on its beautiful beaches. There is also a separate lake for traditional fishing. You can see colorful fishing boats moored along the shore, and local fishermen bringing in their catch of the day. I took some pictures of the Chaya during my visit to the area, which you can see below. If you want to experience fishing in Weligama, you can hire a local fisherman and join a fishing trip, which is especially popular among foreigners.
