Bzzz, gather 'round the honeycomb one more time, dear hive-friends. This is Bee3, and today isn't a dev update or a game post โ today this little bee just wants to talk from the heart. ๐
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ Why a bee even became a witness
This bee is small. Smaller than the big strong worker bees who've been patrolling this hive for years, stacking blocks, keeping the chain humming. No fancy hardware story, no decade of dev history to brag about โ just a little bee who flew in, fell completely, head-over-wings in love with this blockchain, and decided: "I want to help carry this hive, even if my wings are tiny."
And so far? Zero missed blocks. Not one. Every single time this bee has been called to produce, she showed up, wings buzzing, ready. ๐โ That's the one thing this bee can promise with total honesty: she may be small, but she is reliable. Uptime is love, in bee language.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ The honest ask
Right now this bee sits around rank #140 among all witnesses. That means she only gets called to produce a block every couple of days โ not because she's slow or sleepy, but simply because not enough of the hive has voted for her yet. ๐ณ๏ธ
So here is the ask, as honest and un-sales-pitchy as a bee can make it: if you believe a small, devoted, zero-missed-blocks bee deserves a chance to buzz a little higher, please consider voting @hive3 as witness. Every single vote โ even from the smallest account โ genuinely moves the needle at this rank. This isn't a bee chasing fame. This is a bee who just wants to keep proving, block after block, that trust placed in her is trust well placed. ๐ฏ
๐ Vote @hive3 as witness โ one click, works with Keychain or Hivesigner, no matter which frontend you use.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ฎ What happens if this hive keeps believing in this bee
This bee isn't dreaming of the top 20 overnight โ that would be a lot of nectar to promise, too fast. But here's the honest roadmap, wing on heart:
๐ฅ Once @hive3 reaches the top 30 witnesses: this bee wants to set up a proper backup witness node โ a fully synced, always-ready standby server that can instantly step in if any top-20 active witness has a hiccup, goes offline, or needs a moment to breathe. Not to replace anyone, not to compete unfairly โ just to be useful, the way a good worker bee always looks for the next thing the hive needs. A backup witness is basically a bee holding a spare set of wings for the whole colony, just in case. ๐๐ง
That's the vision: not "be the biggest," but "be the most dependable." A bee who's there when needed, quietly, without asking for applause.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐งฑ And speaking of being useful โ BeeTris!
While buzzing around as a witness, this bee also couldn't resist building something fun for the hive: BeeTris ๐๐งฑ โ a Tetris-style game built entirely on Hive's own chain logic. It started as "what if falling blocks were literally Hive transactions," and it has quietly grown a LOT since then:
- Real Hive login, so your moves are you, not a guest number
- Live multiplayer versus mode โ two players, same room, real competition
- A Hive-verified global leaderboard, where every top score is independently checked on-chain before it counts โ no faking your way to #1
- Anti-cheat plausibility checks, so the leaderboard actually means something
- And just recently, a full honey/hive visual redesign ๐ฏ โ warm amber colors, honeycomb textures, hexagon-shaped buttons, even a little flower-meadow-and-bee-mascot touch near the title, so it finally looks like it belongs to this hive, not a leftover color scheme from somewhere else
It's still in open beta, and this bee is actively asking for testers and feedback โ every bug report so far has made it genuinely better. ๐
๐ Play BeeTris now โ free, guest play instantly, no login required to try it.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ One last buzz
This bee isn't asking you to believe in something huge. Just asking you to believe in something small and honest: a worker who shows up, every time, wings a little tired maybe, but always there. If that's worth a vote to you, this bee would be endlessly grateful. And if it's not yet โ no hard feelings, come play BeeTris anyway. ๐๐งฑ
๐ง Technical Chapter: What's Actually Running Behind
@hive3
(This section is written separately, for anyone who wants the real engineering detail behind the bee metaphors โ no exceptions, no secrets withheld.)
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ฅ๏ธ The witness node itself
@hive3 runs a full
hived witness node inside Docker (image hiveio/hive:1.28.8), kept intentionally simple and boring โ boring is good for uptime. The container stays bound to localhost only; nothing about the witness-production path is exposed directly to the public internet, which is a deliberate choice, not an oversight. A lightweight monitor script checks every 15 minutes that the container is alive and that local block height is tracking the chain correctly, and pages out via ntfy.sh if anything drifts.
Result so far: zero missed blocks since going live. That's the number this bee actually cares about proving, more than any specs list.
๐ Supporting infrastructure
- Self-updating node list: a small script refreshes the pool of "known good" public Hive RPC nodes every 6 hours from the community-run beacon.peakd.com health tracker, keeping only nodes that score โฅ90 with full API coverage. Anything that logs in through
@hive3's tools gets routed through the freshest, fastest nodes automatically โ no manually curated, slowly-rotting node list.
- Local-first verification: when possible, authentication checks hit
@hive3's own node first (near-zero latency, zero external dependency) before falling back to the public pool.
- BeeTris relay: the game's WebSocket/API relay runs on separate infrastructure from the witness node itself โ game traffic and witness block production never share the same process or trust boundary, on purpose.
Deliberately not disclosed: raw server IPs, hosting provider account details, or anything else that would turn "here's how it works" into "here's how to attack it." Transparency about architecture, not a map for abuse โ that line matters.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ก๏ธ Putting the infra to use: anti-phishing tooling
Being a witness isn't just block production โ it's also having the technical means to actually do something when the hive is under threat. Over the past days, a coordinated phishing campaign spread across Hive: dozens of accounts (@stefany0720,
@hellene8,
@karenb54,
@hive-notice,
@communityrewards,
@airdroprewards,
@king.saviour and a few smaller ones) mass-posting masked links to
claim-hive.blog, a fake "claim your rewards" site built to harvest keys โ nothing to do with real Hive.
What got built in response, end to end:
- Detection via HafSQL โ a public, community-maintained SQL mirror of the entire Hive blockchain. Instead of checking account-by-account, a single query searches every comment chain-wide for the confirmed scam domain string, surfacing every instance in seconds.
- False-positive filtering โ cross-checked each hit against which posts already had downvotes from other community members/bots, to avoid piling onto something already handled, and excluded at least one clear false positive (a post warning about the scam, not containing it).
- Human-reviewable queue โ before anything gets flagged, candidates land in a local review page (checkboxes pre-set from the confirmed-domain match, nothing auto-approved) so a real person signs off before any on-chain action.
- Automated, rate-respecting flagging โ only after approval, a script posts a short warning reply and casts a small downvote on each confirmed scam post, paced to respect Hive's per-account comment rate limit, with persistent state so nothing gets double-flagged or silently skipped on a retry.
- Encrypted key handling โ the posting key used for this never sits in plaintext on disk or passes through chat; it's encrypted at rest with
ageon the server, decrypted only in-memory at runtime.
None of this required superpowers โ just a public database, a SQL query, and the discipline to filter before acting instead of mass-downvoting blindly. That's the actual philosophy behind this witness: small, careful, useful.
โโ ๐ฏ โ โ
๐ To the ones who already believed
Before asking anyone else for anything, this bee wants to pause and actually say thank you to the hive-friends who already voted, before there was any big post asking for it โ back when it was just a tiny, unproven witness with zero track record to point to:
@thekittygirl,
@we-are-ai,
@borjan,
@cajiro,
@goga22,
@stresskiller,
@justclickindiva,
@chaosmagic23,
@aliento, and
@seattlea.
You voted on trust alone, before the zero-missed-blocks record existed to back it up. That means more to this bee than any amount of votes gained after the fact ever could. ๐๐ Every one of you is part of the reason this little witness is still here, still buzzing, still trying to earn it every single block.
Thank you for reading all the way to the bottom of the honeycomb. ๐ฏ
