Yes, I get that attitude. They want butts in seats, and live crowds. I think they view any income from traditional social media such as advertising, as just extra revenue. They want little time invested to pay whatever scraps hey can earn. But, that mindset is so old school.

It may be something where people in this space start their own promotion and build it in Hive. But that's a task that is very difficult. It would be nice to find a promotion to partner with, and show them how to integrate Hive into their social media.

The sad thing is, they are underestimating the value of their core audience and fans earning for posting and curating. Those core fans earning additional income may want to spend it right back on them in the form of ppv streams, tickets, and merch. It's like enabling your fanbase to earn additional income doing what they already do, then gaining a % of that income back in sales.

And the thing is, it can be done very easily by people like me and you. The beneficiary pay option would allow administrators of the account to be paid on each piece of content prepared and posted in a fair and transparent manner.

I still think if the wrestlers realized that they would basically earn micro-payments for all content posted by the promotion, they'd see the value in that. I'm sure they earn little to nothing of any ad revenue for social media content posted by a promotion.

Also, I agree... the environment of Steem and Hive is not perfect, but it's definitely and improvement over traditional social media. People's attitudes are better. Many may come for the money, and think twice before going off on these platforms. But overall, it actually slowly teaches people to interact better. It may begin with financial incentive, but over time you actually learn to express yourself, disagree, debate, and argue in a much more civil way due to the financial incentive. Of course, it never guarantees bad actors and trolls will not be here. But it def lowers it, and with communities having mods and the ability to mute, if someone wants to get crazy, they an do so on their own feed and keep the community much more manageable. Censorship residence but modded communities has already improved Hive imo.

It's one of these things where education is a must. But since most fans are not content creators, you have to attract the content creators to attract fans.

I've thought a lot about this for pro wrestling, jiu jitsu, ufc and mma... interests that rely on social media and are all original content. But it's like pulling teeth to get serious engagement with these potentials. But, I do believe, if you bring the content and creators, they will attract the average fan to follow them here.
