Beloved of God, I welcome you all in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, to a new month of love and purity, and also to the final edition of the New Garment series.
Below are the links to the previous series for your spiritual uplift and for your reading pleasure.
1 Garment of Righteousness
2 Garment of Power
3 Garment of Praise
4 Garment of Prayer
5. Garment of Blessings
The garment of blessing is placed last in the series because it comes as a result and also as a reward for our efforts and diligence in the previous garments.
It is the only garment that is dependent on all the earlier mentioned garments.
Garment of blessing is the happiness, protection, and help from God for our obedience and trust in Him.
Deuteronomy 28:1-13
1If you fully obey the Lordyour God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lordyour God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
2All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
3You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.
8The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
9The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him.
10Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you.
11The Lordwill grant you abundant prosperity— in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground— in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.
12The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.
13The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
14Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.
Brethren, the new height we seek this year are embedded in the blessings of obedience that the Lord will clothe you with if only you would obey.
Blessings from God are not found on a plater of gold as it is seen with grace, but are found as a reward for the works of our hands and our sincere labour for Christ. The only condition for blessing; be it spiritual blessings or material blessings is Obedience.
The book of Deuteronomy as read above, enumerated all the forms of blessings that follow those who would honour and obey God's commandments. It also contains the effects and curses on those who are disobedient to the commandments of God.
Earthly Blessings of Obedience
The blessings of prosperity. (Proverbs 10:22) The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and adds no trouble to it.
The blessing of triumph over foes and frenemies. (Joshua 21:24) God will give him peace on all sides, and make his enemies at peace with him.
The blessing of distinction that makes you invaluable in all ramifications of life. (Deuteronomy 28:13) He will make you the head and not the tail.
The blessing of exaltation. (Deuteronomy 28:9) The Lord will establish you as His holy people.
The blessings of fruitfulness and perfect health. (James 1:17) Every good and perfect thing comes from the Lord.
The blessing of restoration. (Joel 2:25) The Lord will restore unto you your years of lost glory.
Heavenly Blessings for Obedience
The blessing of eternal life with Christ in His kingdom. (John 14:1-3)
The blessing of the crown of life for those who will keep their faith to the end. (Revelation 2:10)
To end the series, I will leave you with "a prayer for blessing" by Debbie Mcdaniel
Dear God,
Thank you for your great love and blessings over our lives. Thank you for your favour has no end, but it lasts for our lifetime. Forgive us for forgetting that you are intimately acquainted with all our ways, that you know what concerns us, and that you cover us with your shield. We ask that we would walk in your blessings and goodness today. That your face would shine on us. That you would open the right doors for our lives and for our loved ones, that you would close the wrong doors and protect us from those we need to walk away from. Establish the work of our hands and bring to fulfillment all that you have given us to do in these days. We pray that you would make our way purposeful and our foot firm out your goodness and love. Give us a heart of wisdom to hear your voice, and make us strong by your huge favour and grace.
In Jesus' Name
Amen.
