Space is a concept and an idea that society has created in order to understand things. Space, as it exists now, is of debatable existence. It is based on our limited perspective. Space is a human construct. It was invented so we may explain or approach observations in a rational manner. Despite this, it does not mean that space itself is a reality, it is a concept and should be approached as such. Concepts are open to discussion and will evolve with time as further investigations and observations reveal more about said concept.
The Galaxy is a very large place. Very huge in fact, it makes my head spin a little when I think about the vast expanse of the Galaxy. It鈥檚 so immense that one could not talk about the Galaxy using our existing language. One might pass away before explaining the Galaxy in its entirety and would probably run out of words to use at the same time. To make a more viable approach to discussion, we can start a little smaller. This is where we talk about specific containments such as our own Solar System that is a miniscule (or perhaps smaller) part of the Galaxy.
The Solar System is a group of eight planets, three dwarf planets and many small bodies. These include the Sun, which is a medium sized star at the centre. We see the sun as a provider of energy as it radiates light and heat, making life possible on our planet. That is a reality, without the sun, the Earth would be lifeless. There are also a number of moons around our Solar System. The Solar System has four inner planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. These are small rocky planets with solid surfaces. Further out, we also see that our system has three outer planets: Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. These are very large gas or liquid planets. There is so little known about these planets that I could spend a lifetime researching just a single region on one of these planets and only scratch the surface.
