It’s not every day that we get to hear about new and exciting things off of our planet. Announcements from NASA tend to come in strings and are not usually teased. Yet here we are in 2020 and NASA are set to unveil something very exciting about our moon. We could put on our tinfoil hats and finally realise that we have once again had contact with ET. But current educated guesses are directing towards something a little less extravagant. Monday is the big day so keep your eyes peeled on the 26h of October for an exciting announcement from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA). Event takes place at 4pm GMT and if we do finally see an army of aliens, I can’t say that it would be too much out of the scope of events for 2020.

Jokes aside, the announcement is thought to be related to water content on the moon and perhaps new evidence suggests that a verified method of water presence has been established. It’s an important part of space research and anything significant relating to the moon will serve as a foundation for future research paths and perhaps unlock gateways to even greater things. But the announcement is still kept tightly under wraps and it’s not clear as to what the announcement will really unveil. It almost feels as if we need a countdown for what is to come. At least we can assume that the news is of positive nature, something we all need right now.

NASA have been a core part of science for many years and the validation of such discoveries is sure to be based upon sound principles. It does make me ever more curious as to what the organization wish to announce in such a manner. Let’s see what the future holds!
