Coloring has been fun lately because it's stress free, quick to do, and rewarding. @acidyo has been wanting to do it as well, so we did a coloring activity session. XD
I have this Wonder Woman coloring book bought from the same time as the Mythographic one which I got on a book sale. Like many other books, they are sealed so I wouldn't know what the papers inside look like.
It looks like this for all of the pages and it looks easier in a way that it guides you where the shadows are gonna be. The paper is not that thick though. There's also a different drawing on every page so if you use markers, it is expected that they will bleed through and you're gonna have to sacrifice one drawing/page.
I chose this drawing on the left so I can practice doing skintone using markers.
There wasn't a wide selection for the skin tone so I was being careful and chose the lightest brown. XD I already established which ones are going to be the shadows so it will be easier later on.
The next lighter brown possible is this shade and it was way darker than the lightest one so to be safe, I still added it on the same area where I put the lightest one previously.
Times like these are quite intimidating cos of the big contrast, just because the colors next to this one is so light that you'd think this might be a bit too dark.
Oh and I added some light blues in the shadows as well to make it more cool toned and shadowy.
Then I used the same lightest one and just colored the whole skin instead. It looks somewhat better now.
I added more blue in the shadows and also used a terracotta-looking colors in between the shadows and the lightest color. I think they blended well.
I don't know what colors are her stuff exactly but I do know she's red, blue, and yellow. XD Thankfully there were a few colors in the book cover lol.
Even when there are already inked shadows in the drawing, I still used a darker color first and a lighter one so the transition will be smoother and not harsh.
Like in the red and yellow for instance, I used two colors there to establish value.
I kinda felt like a comic artist and also a fashion designer while using the markers haha. These are also the skills you need if you want to be a comic artist I think. :p
Here's the back page btw. I wasn't a big fan of that so I was ok to sacrifice it. XD Maybe on the next coloring, colored pencils will be a better choice for a medium especially on this page on the left.
This is what @acidyo colored, Charizard from Pokemon coloring book that he got from Japan. He should do this more often cos it's a fun activity. :D
