Wow the white mountains in new Hampshire! Pretty wild to see those lights. What colour were they? Were they actually in the forest it's self or in the sky? Sorry for the questions but accounts like that fascinate me.

For me and my friend we were up by a campground called the onion on independence peak. We hiked up further to where there are a string of alpine lakes to try for some spring bass. We were up near 9000 foot altitude when a horrific repetitive hooting snarl type growl could be heard. Almost sounded like a animal imitatating a giant wooden hand saw with when chimps start going nuts and hooting angrily. But much basier and whatever it was was displacing a lot f air. It reverberated through that granite alpine terrain. Whatever it was did it once about half a mile away. Then again 20 minutes later about a quarter mile away. Then another tine a short while after that maybe a few hundred yards away around the bend of where one pond fed into another. We got the distinct impression as this thing approached pur location it was trying to drive us out. We gathered our mostly packed gear and hi tailed it down the trail got to our truck and tore out of there.
