I do not know how is a Christmas celebration or any other subject outside Venezuela, but I do know that here, in every Venezuelan home, we have the particularity that we take any excuse to turn it into a celebration, but beyond that, at Christmas, a real reason for celebration for any Venezuelan is, MAKE HALLACAS.
This year the celebration was a little different since my sister-in-law came to our house, we had not seen her for more than a year, since she lives in the capital of the country and due to the pandemic it has not been easy to visit her frequently.
Of course, she had the same time to see her nephews and nieces, that is, my children, so her consent to them at no time could not be lacking, she is their only aunt on dad's side, and according to her "the favorite" hahahaha.
Prior to her visit, we had already squared everything to make the hallacas in my house, so between being aware of my crowd, we had to take the time to assemble them, therefore, during the day while some took care of the children, others chopped the seasonings, while others played with them, others cut the leaves for the hallacas, as the day went by we all took turns.
Of course, you will always have time to pose for a picture, or you will always be out there taking a picture without noticing it.
When we talk about hallacas in my country, two things are automatically integrated: FAMILY AND BOCHINCHE.
When I talk about family I include many people, your real family, your neighbors, your friends, your compadre, your comadre, the man you haven't seen for a year, the mother of the friend who became your cousin in life, in short, the family that every Venezuelan chooses.
When I talk about bochinche, I am referring to each one of the anecdotes that happen that day, there will always be a joke to laugh at, there will always be an anecdote that you did not remember, there will always be the uncle who gets drunk after a few drinks, or the cousin who fell, in short, in a celebration in my country there will always be a bochinche.
After spending the whole day making the stew, taking care of the children, taking the drunk uncle to sleep, washing the leaves, dancing to the song you like, going out to buy ice because it ran out, among many other things, the night comes to assemble the longed-for hallacas.
Here you might think that things get more serious but no, there is always someone who eats the raisin, someone who changes the music and you don't like it, so you have to stop and change it again, you realize that the leaves are too big or too small, in short, even more bochinche.
And we are definitely blessed, to have our family and to be able to share with them, is something that not everyone can count on. We should be very thankful for how lucky we are to be able to have and live moments like this.
P.S: I owe you the photos of the hallacas in the pot and the first one we ate, but after a whole day like the one described above, at about 4 in the morning there was no phone with charge and no one noticed it hahahaha.
