This post will be a bit different from the topics I discuss on my blog. One week ago I was on my first Urbex expedition. When developing, it is about Urban exploration, i.e. exploring less accessible, forgotten or abandoned parts of human civilization. This applies to both the new (huge abandoned Chinese cities where nobody wants to live due to poor-quality construction) and historic monuments. It is also worth writing about one of the most important principles that guide this hobby - leaving everything in the order we found when we came to the place. I visited one of such locations at the invitation of my friend Wojtek, who is interested in this form of spending free time. Our goal was Legnica, an abandoned hospital built by the Germans. I did not count the buildings, nor do I know the size of this complex, but we visited several buildings, including cellars, if there were any. Baths with a swimming pool, we walked past a mini-power plant that powered the entire base, a hospital, a mortuary, a parking lot for vehicles, a part of the forest turned into a micro-park for the sick and injured, a warehouse where meals and other supplies were distributed. Everything is neatly built, as it is in the case of a German - if someone would keep an eye on it, replacing at most electricity, cables, pipes and the entire infrastructure of this type, these buildings would be well-preserved to this day. Unfortunately, ugly paintings (although there were also very nice murals!), Devastation and carelessness on the part of not very intelligent people (scattered rubbish, about a ton of broken glass from various beer bottles, cheap wines, vodka) did not embellish this place.
Each of the above-mentioned locations had its own atmosphere. I liked the large pool the most. The atmosphere is like in some Japanese horror movie, the only thing that was missing was that the light suddenly went out, and some monsters appeared from behind. The silence was such that you could hear only flying insects, slight reverberation, broken glass, mostly thicker than ordinary windows, partly broken dirty tiles. The only things that stood out were the murals that were painted maybe several decades ago. In turn, in the dissecting room you could feel ... the atmosphere? The mood of death? This second term seems to fit better. It was felt that there was a corpse in this building before it was buried. It's a truism, but photos and videos will not reflect it, you just have to be in such places and get into the right mood to feel their soul. The parking is as simple, spacious and practical as possible, i.e. easy, large entrance and lots of space to use. Local drunks and rebellious youths made good use of this, scattering tons of alcohol bottles all over the place. German builders built social and residential buildings in a similar way. There are more rooms, the building is better suited to accommodate that many people. There was one storage point (I noticed at least one - I mean the room where the transport from trucks was dropped), but in total I did not go that far from the last chamber to this place, just a few minutes.
Did i like it So average, but the possibility of communing with a 4K webcam, previously unknown impressions, breaking out of your comfort zone and doing something against your homely nature, I see too big advantages that compensate for my minor reasons for complaining. And sometimes it is worth verifying whether and then why you dislike something, instead of using "no because no" or similar explanations. In addition to what is a special set of pluses for me, I got a lot of inspiration for the texts, both those that I publish and those that I want to write in the future. I don't really plan on it as my future hobby, but I'd love to try a few more trips like that. Such male outings are a nice springboard from ordinary, gray everyday life. I invite you to Wojtek's film, I can boast that he used my 30 or 40 second material from 5:59. I hope you liked my photos;). Perhaps I will write a second comment like this in the near future because we have to go to another place.
