It depends what you care about. If in films, their offer is poor. Maybe it's better abroad, but the Polish branch of HBO offers only little-known films, most of which are not very good. It's probably even worse with animations. However, if you mainly watch TV series, HBO offers a lot of good, very good or great productions. I would venture to say that they are qualitatively better than most of the series that Netflix has in its offer. We have both old, cult or at least critically acclaimed productions, such as "Boardwalk Empire", "Deadwood", "Rome", "Six Feet Under", "The Sopranos", "The Wire", "The Pacific", "Band of Brothers" or "Da Ali G Show", as well as the new ones that have managed to gain a group of fans around the world - "Chernobyl", "Vinyl" (1 episode directed by Martin Scorsese), "Westworld", "Watchmen", "Euphoria", "His Dark Materials", "What we do in the Shadows", "Game of Thrones". Additionally, in the near future we will get spin-offs from the latter title ("House of the Dragon" will be the first to come out, which will be about the Targaryen family, and there will be at least 2 others). However, if you do not wait for them, because like me you are disgusted with the last season, which was a cesspool, then in 2022 we will get the series adaptation of "The Last of Us".
I have seen some of these series, some have already reviewed, others will be posted on the blog in the near future, and some, such as "His Dark Materials", not, because I do not want to write about them. Generally, they represent at least a good level and I think that everyone will find at least 1 series for themselves here, and you can always watch the others. If you care about quality and watching, above all, good titles, then HBO gave you the option to display suggestions from those with the highest IMDB ratings. It is true that I have written several times that such rankings and public ratings do not matter much (especially in times when bombing review is a common phenomenon), but it is always some form of separating weak productions from those worth attention.
The subscription can be turned off at any time (you even have to do it, because if not, HBO will take the money from our card itself), the catalog is incomparably more readable than the Netflix one and I am surprised that they do not do anything about this mess they have at home . The only problem is that if you see it all, HBO is very slowly delivering new, valuable content. True, Netflix produces a lot of garbage or medium production, sometimes there are lean weeks when they don't add anything interesting, but they have so much content that in those 6 months something will accumulate. If not a continuation of a series, they will buy a license to broadcast a series that does not have a distributor in a given country. In the case of HBO, unfortunately, you have to wait. Well, unless you haven't seen those old series that I wrote about in the first paragraph, you shouldn't be complaining for many months. In general, I recommend that I liked some series less, but apart from the final season of "Game of Thrones" or the last episodes of "Raised by Wolves" and "Euphoria", I was not embarrassed by anything. On the contrary - HBO has a rich library of very good series, which is probably larger than in the case of Netflix.

Zależy na czym Wam zależy. Jeśli na filmach, to ich oferta jest słaba. Może zagranicą jest lepiej, ale polski oddział HBO ma do zaoferowania jedynie mało znane filmy, które w większości nie są zbyt dobre. Z animacjami jest chyba jeszcze gorzej. Jeśli jednak oglądacie przede wszystkim seriale, to HBO oferuje mnóstwo dobrych, bardzo dobrych lub świetnych produkcji. Zaryzykowałbym stwierdzenie, że jakościowo są lepsze od większości seriali, które posiada w swej ofercie Netflix. Mamy tu zarówno stare, kultowe lub przynajmniej uznane przez krytyków produkcje, jak np. "Boardwalk Empire", "Deadwood", "Rome", "Six Feet Under", "The Sopranos", "The Wire", "The Pacific", "Band of Brothers" lub "Da Ali G Show", jak i te nowe, które zdążyły zdobyć grono fanów na całym świecie - "Chernobyl", "Vinyl" (1 odcinek wyreżyserował Martin Scorsese), "Westworld", "Watchmen", "Euphoria", "His Dark Materials", "What we do in the Shadows", "Game of Thrones". Dodatkowo w niedalekiej przyszłości dostaniemy spin-offy z tego ostatniego tytułu (jako pierwszy wyjdzie "House of the Dragon", który będzie opowiadał o rodzie Targaryenów, a poza nim będą jeszcze co najmniej 2 inne). Jeśli jednak nie czekacie na nie, bo podobnie jak ja jesteście zniesmaczeni ostatnim sezonem, który był szambem, to w 2022 dostaniemy serialową adaptację "The Last of Us".
Widziałem część z tych seriali, niektóre już zrecenzowałem, inne trafią na bloga w niedalekiej przyszłości, a niektóre jak np. "His Dark Materials" nie, bo nie chce mi się pisać na ich temat. Generalnie prezentują one co najmniej niezły poziom i uważam, że każdy znajdzie tutaj przynajmniej 1 serial dla siebie, a przy okazji zawsze można obejrzeć pozostałe. Jeśli zależy Wam na jakości i oglądaniu przede wszystkim dobrych tytułów, to HBO dało opcję by wyświetlać propozycje od tych z najwyższymi ocenami IMDB. Co prawda kilkukrotnie pisałem już, że takie rankingi i publiczne oceny nie mają większego znaczenia (zwłaszcza w czasach, gdy bombing review jest powszechnym zjawiskiem), ale zawsze to jakaś forma odsiania słabych produkcji od tych wartych uwagi.
Subskrybcję można wyłączyć w każdej chwili (wręcz trzeba to zrobić, bo jak nie, to HBO samo pobierze pieniądze z naszej karty), katalog jest nieporównywalnie bardziej czytelny niż ten Netflixa i dziwię się, że nic nie robią z tym bałaganem, jaki mają u siebie. Problem jest tylko taki, że jeżeli zobaczycie już wszystko, to HBO bardzo powoli dostarcza nowe, wartościowe treści. Fakt, Netflix produkuje dużo śmieci lub średnich produkcji, czasem zdarzają się chude tygodnie gdy nie dodają nic ciekawego, ale mają tyle treści, że w ciągu tych 6 miesięcy coś się uzbiera. Jak nie kontynuacja któregoś serialu, to wykupią licencję na emisję serialu, który nie ma dystrybutora w danym kraju. W przypadku HBO trzeba niestety czekać. No chyba, że nie widzieliście tych starych seriali, o których napisałem w 1 akapicie, to nie powinniście narzekać przez wiele miesięcy. Generalnie polecam, niektóre seriale mniej mi się spodobały, ale pomijając finałowy sezon "Game of Thrones" lub ostatnie odcinki "Raised by Wolves" i "Euphoria" nie byłem niczym zażenowany. Wprost przeciwnie - HBO ma bogatą bibliotekę bardzo dobrych seriali, która jest chyba większa niż w przypadku Netflixa.
