There is a new exhibition at Station 16 Gallery, Checked Out, the first solo exhibition by Mando Marie, American artist born in 1981. Amanda Marie graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) and now based between Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Portugal.
Death Chase
She works both outdoors with large scale stentil and in her studio on more refined paintings. Her universeseems to be in the nostalgic world of childhood but it always hides in her work a little spooky side (that's what I like). This exhibition, Checked Out, is more about her iconic Reading Girl series focused on books or book tiles.

"The exhibition title, Checked Out, is therefore a play on words, evoking both the library term, and in turn, the colloquial expression for removing oneself from one’s current situation. This double meaning echoes the conflicting nature of Mando’s work; nostalgic yet contemporary, innocent yet brave. " - Station 16
