History of the Ford GT40

The Ford GT40 was developed in order to beat Ferrari in prototype-class race car and with success, with four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The GT40 was produced at 87 examples with the prefix P. But this GT40 Roadster is the early development of this beast, only 12 were built.

This model, GT/108, was sent to Shelby American in March 1965 for test purposes. But Carroll Shelby has so much fun with it, he asked to his staff in Venice (California) to perform some modifications. The GT/108 was used as promotional exhibition for Shelby's Cobra Team with Ken Miles as driver.

Specification

This model is equipped with a Cobra-specification Ford 289 cc engine mated to a Colotti T-37 transaxle.
