Another exceptional car at the RM Sotheby's Monterey Sale this August... This 1955 Ferrari 375 MM Coupe Speciale will be auctionned for about (Est. $US 5,000,000 - $US 7,000,000 (estimate price). Exceptional price too for the final Ferrari bodied by Carrozzeria Ghia the Italian coachbuilder with its original color scheme.
The Ferrari 375 MM was produced between 1953 and 1955 in order to compete in the Mille Miglia race. It's why MM... But the 375 MM also raced in Carrera Panamericana. Only 26 examples were built, including 4 converted from its predecessor the 340 MM.
This model has a bodywork by Ghia, the last Ferrari bodied by the Italian coachbuilder. It was presented on the Ghia stand during the 1955 Turin Motor Show. Only four 375 MM Berlinettas have a special coachwork, the most known the Bergman 375 MM, a gift from Roberto Rossellini to his wife, Ingrid Bergamn (more, French).
The Ferrari 375 MM has 4,522 cc Lampredi V12 engine (to complete its name 4.5 liter / 12 = 375) producing 340 hp for a top speed of about 240 - 270 kmh.
This model is finished in its original configuration, salmon over metallic grey, and complete with its original interior. Beautiful.
