Last July 12 marked my first year with my crochet page, MGotHooked. And a few days from that, I released my first crochet written pattern, Matilda! Double Celebration! Wohooo!
I made my first chains and stitches with a yarn and a hook way back....I can't remember the year but I was in gradeschool then. Haha Phone and pen pouches were my go-to projects then. As the years passed, I kinda pushed this craft back and got into other art forms. But last year, something suddenly piqued my interest again that I found myself watching videos about the different yarns and hooks. And not long after, my parcel containing my crochet materials finally arrived home. I was ecstatic!
My early projects were water bottle cover, scrunchies, and cotton rounds. Being someone who isn't into fashion and dressing up, who would have thought that I would end up making crocheted clothes! Haha I would tend to shy away from wearables at first because I had this misconception that crocheted garments should be colorful and daring (and obviously, I am not). But as I explored the community, I kept on getting new perspectives on the craft. I learned how endless the possibilities are with yarns and hooks, and we are the only ones limiting ourselves.
A year ago today, I didn't even know the existence of crochet patterns or that pattern-testing is a thing. But lo and behold, here we are now, managing our own testing team/s. I am in awe with how much I grew in just a year. Imagine what more the future could offer. I still have a bunch of things to learn and yet to discover, and tons of challenges to face and maybe cry over, but I am looking forward to experiencing them all. ❤
As mentioned, I also released my first crochet pattern earlier this month! It's named, Matilda, a co-ord piece! To know more about Matilda, you may read my previous post about it here.
Before I end this post, just wanna share with you the versions of Matilda's testers!
