This year was a year filled with unpredictability; first times; going out of the comfort zone; embracing the unknown; diving into the unsure. As somebody who likes having a grasp of what's next, this was indeed such a leap.

The biggest decision and change I faced this year was probably quitting my full-time job without a solid plan, other relying to my unstable side hustle. I knew I would be financially-challenged. I knew that there would be a point when I'll then again feel like drowning, but still, I pushed through it. Not only because I was being stubborn, selfish, or too ideal. But also because in my years of wanting to try something new, this was the year when I felt in my heart that I had to do it already. I felt like if I wouldn't do it now, then the courage burning in my heart would soon fade away-- which I might later on regret.

So yes, I left my childhood dream profession and started my journey towards reaching my adult dream career-- being an artist. (Oh shucks, hold on. It feels surreal and kinda awkward saying the word artist to describe myself haha). Being new in the world of creatives and freelancing, I honestly felt lost. What kind of job will I end up doing? Which industry should I apply for? What positions would fit me? Will somebody even hire me? These are just a few of the questions that keep running in my head (even until now, a couple of months after resigning).

But for some reason, God and the universe continue to take care of me, that whenever I feel like I have nowhere to go or nothing to do, they bring in opportunities and show me paths I could take. They are blessings I never thought I would experience ever!

For one, I was invited by the founder of Katha Pilipinas to be one of their partner artists. That opportunity alone paved my way to so much growth. My crochet brand, together with other local artists and artisans, became part of Katha's inventory for Artefino Festival 2023 and was even brought to the UK for an event! Some of my pieces were worn on photoshoots, too! Really, it was awesome!

And aside from these, being part of the Katha Tribe also made me meet new like-minded people, which adds fuel to my fire! <3

Another surprise for me this year was being able to facilitate a crochet workshop for beginners. Not just once, but 4x in a span of 6 months! That's crazy for me! And what's even crazier is that creating a crochet kit and facilitating a workshop was just an idea that suddenly came to mind earlier this year. I was just making plans in my head on what to include in the kit or how to go about the workshop, not knowing that around 3-4 months later, those ideas and plans would actually become a reality.

What a chain of events. I love it.

Of course, these stories are just the highlights. My ride isn't smooth-sailing at all. So many bumps along the way; so many tears, doubts, and worries I tried to shoo away. But you know, every decision we take has its own consequences, so we just gotta be ready to accept them all-- trials and victory.

How about you? What was your biggest leap this year?

Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
