Jesus fucking christ. What the fuck am I doing with my time?
First off hello rant community.. hahaha. I joined a few days ago thanks to 
I just wasted 3 hours of my fucking day letting myself get worked up by a 15 year old on Instagram.
THIS IS WHY I DON'T GO ON INSTAGRAM ANYMORE. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE.
In my past I've been an "activist". I don't like using that word because it makes me sound like I think I'm doing something important. I mean, it's fucking important but I'm no hero and there are very few. I think all people should just stand up for what's fucking right and it's not that hard and I don't get people who choose to live immorally for $$$ or whatever the fuck the influence is.
Since moving out of the city and living in an isolated area much of the "activism" work I do is remote. It ain't work, but that does mean I occasionally find myself arguing with trolls and bigots on the internet... which I stopped doing as it would get me too worked up and distract me for my whole fucking day.
And yet, sometimes I can't help myself and it happened again. People can't really be this stupid, so I'm pretty sure this kid was just trolling but he did a really convincing job at making it seem like he was sincere.
DEFUNDING THE POLICE
Y'all can have your own opinions on this subject and that's fine with me. As long as you can have a reasonable conversation about it. What I don't get is
IT'S 2021 AND PEOPLE STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS!?!?
This fucking kid spent my whole afternoon trying to act like I was advocating for crime and a society devoid of social standards. I continually tried to explain to him what RE-ALLOCATION means and he said I was just talking about putting money into police. I say cut down the number of armed citizens(YEAH THEY'RE FUCKING CITIZENS SAME AS A CONVENIENCE STORE WORKER OR A LAWYER. IT'S A FUCKING JOB) and re-allocate a good percentage of the ~$200 billion that goes into police funding in the USA to severely underfunded community programs such as mental health services.
BUT, like the majority of these fucking cucks, you mention the even NOTION of this and it's "anarchy".
OK, SIDE NOTE, I wouldn't be opposed to anarchy. But I know it wouldn't work, and I'm realistic and not just thinking about myself.. but that's besides the point 馃槀
I tried to explain to this motherfucker DOZENS OF TIMES what defunding means. Re-allocation. That I'm not for completely eradicating the role of police just what their current role and function in society is. Tried to explain the difference to him between "abolishing law" and "abolishing and rebuilding the system". Because reform DOES NOT WORK and we all know that from decades of attempts.
GOD DAMNIT I'M SO FUCKING ANNOYED I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE THIS STUPID.
Apparently ALSO according to this kid mental health professionals and therapists are apparently "police" as well because whenever I mention re-allocating those funds to these services the response is "so you're not defunding you're just putting the money into different police departments"
OK OK OK I WILL SHUT UP ABOUT THIS KID
I just can't believe I let that get me so worked up. Listen, I'm all for people having their own opinions on social issues as long as they can have a reasonable conversation about it without making shit up to support their own viewpoints. And I hate to generalize but it always seems like the "right"(fuck these fucking labels but how else do you describe it) are impossible to have a realistic conversation with and create absolute bullshit scenarios and what-about-ism to defend their "points" while denying the experiences of others.
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT sorry I'm alone and I need to vent. I'm really happy about this rant section 馃槀
