I love humanity. I think I always have. And I have discovered that teaching acting is a way of teaching people to be more conscious about how they behave in their lives. I'm pretty lucky, in that I generally attract actors that want to better themselves, not just "make money" or "be famous".
Because actors, when starting out, must "pay their dues" in order to move ahead and succeed. That dues paying process can take years. Yet many actors start out believing they are "the one" that will be discovered for their looks and/or talent.
I've been doing this for 21 years (and counting) and I still get read for one or two lines. I have surrendered to the fact that my career may just be being "that guy" who's in everything, but you don't know their off stage name. Not a bad career to have, I think!
Anyway, just some musings before I start my class tonight.
