Part I – From the Author
Do you remember the heart-shaped potato I bought at the market, telling you it was holding a huge secret? Well, I was right.
But the adventures didn't stop with our cool and calm buddy in the sunglasses. This odd little potato is still on my desk, and it looks like every day a new scout from Planet Spud comes here to explore the world as its host.
And Scout #002 just landed this morning. And he is not at all like the previous one – he is full of wonder and curiosity.
Part II – From the Potato (Log #002: The Curious Scout)
“Woooah... Hello, Earthlings! I’m Scout #002!
As far as I know, I should land just a bit after my coworker (this smart guy in the cool sunglasses), who would send a logical report about Earth. But who can keep logic here, on the planet where everything is so strange?!
I landed just a few minutes ago, and I can’t stop rotating on my own axis, ever since my sensors got turned on. I hear a heartbeat in my heart, and everything around me is brand new to me: lights which change their colors, smells which drift in the air. On Planet Spud, there were no lights and sounds. Everything is moving here – even the air! And it touches my rough skin. What is this feeling you humans feel all the time?
My buddy with the sunglasses told me. “Earth can be dangerous,” he said, “play it safe.” But curiosity burns in my heart.
And today, something threw me into complete disarray.
There was a giant furry creature in the corner. I kept some distance and observed it – I couldn't help myself. Then it produced some sounds which I never heard before: “meow, meow”. So I tried to come a bit closer. The creature didn't move, didn't even turn to me, and suddenly something started vibrating inside of it – a low and steady “purrr, purrr”.
I froze. Was it some sort of planetary alarm? Or power surge? Some sort of signal?
You guys know this world better than me. Help me out, please! What is this creature and what it is doing?!
I’m going to dig up all the secrets of this planet and poke my nose everywhere. It’s just the beginning; we’re not going to stick around in one spot for long. We’re going to travel around between communities. Join us in discovering where my travels take me, and who the other scouts are!
And another thing… I don’t even have an Earth name yet! Comment below and give me some ideas of names for a character like me, that’s always exploring.”
