Hello, my dear brothers and sisters in the Hive community. Good day and good activities, may you stay healthy and continue to be given health by the universe. Ever since I was a teenager, I've been very interested in Sid Vicious. He was a musician and bassist in the band Sex Pistols. He is also a punk icon who is full of controversy. He had many run-ins with the law in his life. But he was the one who inspired me to live a fearless life.
The lyrics of the band Sex Pistols are verses of rebellion against authority and the state. This proves that Sid Vicious and his band are people who dare to express their thoughts and opinions sharply without having to fear the consequences they will face. From Sid Vicious I learned about the courage to speak up and express one's opinion despite the risks involved.
When it comes to art, Sid Vicious has the creativity to experiment. In my opinion, his talent for playing the bass is average. But his stage act and the way he plays it are amazing. The way he plays the bass on stage is so eccentric and energetic. It inspired me and other musicians. Therefore, we should encourage creativity in our daily lives.
What I love about Sid Vicious is that he can maintain punk rock values in his life such as independence, and rejecting the authority system which he believes is an oppression of the individual. Even though his life was filled with trouble and lawlessness. Just like Sid Vicious, I will also defend the values that I consider important even if the values I defend are considered worthless.
From Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols, I understand that punk is not just energetic rock music, but a counterculture full of rebellion. Punk became a movement that expressed cynicism, anxiety, confrontation, and criticism of social inequality. The songs I like are "God Save the Queen" and "Anarchy in the U.K".
God Save the Queen is a song criticizing the monarchy in the UK. The song seems to demean the queen of England who maintains and fights for the monarchical system, so it is no longer considered sacred and honorable. The song is an attack on a corrupt and unfair political system.
Meanwhile, the song Anarchy in the U.K. gave me the spirit to break free from established systems. As we know, anarchy is an ideology of rejection of hierarchy and power. To me, hierarchy and power are bad, rigid and boring systems. That's my little explanation about Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols. I hope you liked it.
