Many of us would like to be called or even seen as strong willed by others. There are probably many instances you can remember where you had to overcome the impulse for flight and stand against all odds.
Ahh I remember the first time i summoned courage to speak to my school crush. My traitorous band of friends who i moved around with had given me all the OT i needed to get the girl (OT is street slang for orientation).
I got there and all the words flew out of my head, i had to do the walk back to my laughing friends.
Courage definitely comes in different ways and manner. You've probably heard of the term you can't cheat nature. I think it should've been expanded to when nature calls, you'd better listen.
During my days in the university, we'd just finished an exam and my friends and i decided to take a walk at least to cool off all the heat from the exam.
I was a mechanical engineering student and if there's any course that mystifies me, then it has to be chemistry. Unfortunately for the first year, you had to register courses with an all round knowledge.
We were still discussing chemical formulas and whether petrol could be found in carrot or oranges馃榿, when we walked past an examination hall.
Suddenly a lady ran out of the hall and was immediately chased by the security personnel present in the building. We all stopped to watch the drama that was about to unfold.
Our guess was that she'd committed exam malpractice and had been caught, so she was fleeing the scene of the exam.
We continued to watch the mini race until the lady ran straight into a nearby toilet, that was when everything began to have meaning.
Apparently she'd been pressed for awhile but continued to sit inorder not to waste time, until she could hold it no more hence the race.
That encounter seemed foolish to me as we dissected the logical and illogical parts of her decision, until i had my own personal experience.
A word of advice, whenever you're traveling never ever ear beans, especially hot beans.
I was traveling back home after one semester and i made the mistake of eating hot beans before i left for the bus park.
For a journey that would last at least eight hours, we were only about thirty minutes into it when my stomach gave the first signs of rumbling.
Normally about halfway to our destination, we would stop to eat. So i decided to become captain braveheart who was counting on getting there instead of asking the driver to find a good place to stop.
My dilemma was made worse because i was sweating and couldn't even tell anyone what was wrong. After what seemed like an eternity in hell, we finally got to our halfway destination.
It's safe to say that i learnt my lesson the hard way. Whenever nature prompts, you'd best heed it's call.
