Ever since I heard the sentence the mother that mothered my mother in a video online, it's has stuck to my brain like glue.
Few days ago it was mother's day and I'm not ashamed to say that I didn't even know if it was a general mother's day or just for a group of people because at this point I've lost track of how many we have in a year.

As much as we all love our mum's, even mother's are beginning to get confused on just how many days they have in one year.
My mum would ask why I'm wishing her mother's day when I just did the same a month ago and at this point even I am tired of explaining.

Twitter is usually known for its toxic tweets, but it seems my Facebook feed matches up it's toxicity on every mother's day.
When it's the Portuguese mother's day my friends will post, when it's for the Spanish the same set of people will post, when it's for the Japanese ........you get the gist.
Then you'll start seeing full blown underhanded posts like u no post ur mama?, abi ur mama no fine like my own (aren't you gonna post your mum?, or isn't she as beautiful as mine).

Back to the murdering mothers
Lol, it sounds crazy right. Imagine mother's doing some murdering, calm down it's not what you think.
But it made me remember some of the funny things about our mums that a large percentage of us can relate to.

Growing up in an African home, it was quite easy to learn the art of talking without talking.
Sounds like witchcraft right? EXACTLY
Some children are usually shy when there's a stranger around, but there are others who are fond of misbehaving just when you're trying to make a good impression on a visitor.

Our mum's only had to give us the eye and you immediately knew there was a lot of unspoken promise of violence in that one gesture. If you didn't behave, you were literally dead meat immediately the visitor leaves.

It's kinda like Real Madrid being two goals down in a champions league match and all Carlo has to do is give the team the eye and BOOM Rodrygo turns to superman, Vinicius is suddenly a twisting tiger with the ball.
The eye was a literally a gesture to put all those unbound atoms and molecules in your body to order and equilibrium.

We learnt sarcasm long before we knew there was even an English word for it.
You have an African mum sitting comfortably in the living room, and you're probably outside playing football with your friends. Then you hear your name and obviously you rush inside so you can be back in time.

What does she call you for? She wants you to bring her the remote just beside the TV that's just in front of her. Obviously you're angry at the disturbance and you thrust it at her face and ask where to put the remote.
She says put in on my head and you foolishly go ahead and do just that. If you've been bad at mathematics, trust me after that encounter you'll understand the meaning of six feet deep.

Regardless of what your culture or society is like, I think the ability to use one gesture to make multiple statements is a special inbuilt feature found in all women and is activated at motherhood.
Share that one thing you did as a kid that only needed one look from your mum to restore you back to factory settings.
