Enjoying now and working later sounds weird right? EXACTLY.
It's been less than a month since a new president resumed office in Nigeria and one of the proposed reforms was in the educational sector.

A government that wants a better education for it's citizens is on the right path. But I wasn't even interested in the governments stance, but rather on the mention of student loans. The very first thing that came to my mind was to enjoy now and work later.

Prior to this, the only idea I've ever had of student loans are usually from Hollywood movies and the internet with other international students who are in school presently or have been before.

It was always painted as a parasitic deal meant to suck your financial will. One thing that seemed to be a general consensus was that a large number of people were in debt because of student loans.

Although I graduated a few years back, the mention of student loan in my country immediately began spinning wheels in my brain that I didn't even realize were there. What exactly is a student loan and why was it such a big deal, I had to know.

STUDENT LOAN
A student loan is one that's used to help students with higher education. It is usually characterized by low interest repayment fees and in most cases you only have to pay back after finishing school and getting employed.

I realized why it was such a big deal, because for the first time I was seeing positive comments in the same sentence as a student loan. What's interesting about this is that with the bill already signed, student get interest free loans regardless of whether it's a private or public school.

Financially a lot of citizens are struggling to survive and from that standpoint alone, I believe financially it's a good move for anyone aspiring for higher education knowing that the option is available if they decide to go for it.

Since this is a new bill coming into place, I really hope that it continues on a positive momentum devoid of the scary picture I use to have about student loans.
Only time will tell.
