This semester is the second year I was trusted to teach students at one of the biggest campus of the country in Aceh. I was asked to teach some subjects related to communication and journalism in Communication and Broadcasting majors.

I assumed it was natural that I was asked to take care of the course because my educational background and experience were also in the field of public relations and journalism. My presence on campus is not due to my academic degree, but some of the field experiences that I consider to be mature in their field.

The first time the academic contacted me, the first one I asked was what course would I teach and when was the schedule? "I asked so not because of arrogance, but to adjust to the work schedule in my office If the schedule and course offered do not match , I immediately rejected. But it suits, I also accept it.

I've been through two semesters, in this third semester I was given only one course course. Because this semester not many subjects related to journalism. I was asked to teach "Comparison of Press System in Indonesia" with the number of students only six people. Actually the number of them crowded, but many have taken the previous semester. So there are only six people left.

Because the numbers only six people just make it easier for me to teach them. I can take them anywhere, including studying at a coffee shop. They agreed, even they asked until the end of semester lecture while relaxing in a coffee shop. Ok, no problem.

Although learning while relaxing, I still give them the task of making papers for presentation. They are all petuh. Their discussions went very smoothly and they were able to put out a lot of ideas in their discussions.

I make them not tense and make the atmosphere as comfortable as possible. When they do I do not rigid rigid, but like people talking in a coffee shop. And most importantly, they should not focus on the speakers alone, but anyone can give an opinion on the issues being discussed.

Likewise when I give them some problems to solve, I notice they find solutions faster when learning at a coffee shop. I see they are very comfortable with this kind of learning model. If they can enjoy it, I will maintain this model of learning.

Steem Promotion

On the sidelines I taught them the subject matter of comparative press systems, once I mentioned the matter of Steemit and how it works. Apparently they were curious and asked me to teach them. They even asked for a special meeting to explain what was Steemit.

I agree with their request. I have promised the next meeting I will discuss about Steemit and ask them all to bring a laptop. Because after I explain them directly I ordered register Steemit account.

Some of them I noticed have been actively writing. Even they have shown me their written works that have been published in the mass media and their internal bulletin. I appreciate them. They are very active.

Lastly, my plan will be on the exam, they will not give me a question to answer, but they will give me one case that many people are talking about, then I ask them to analyze and give their opinion. This I do to stimulate their thinking power to be sensitive to an event. []

Mereka semua petuh.
