Walking and taking pictures in Havana.
One of the things I enjoy the most is going to places to walk around and take pictures. It seems like it's never enough. It is such an enjoyment going from block to block taking pictures. Every angle is meant to be different. It’s like connecting with the present moment just like this. There’s no judgments, just taking pictures seeing that little perfect place to just shoot. Well, yesterday it happens to be in Havana.
I went there because my mom got me some errands to run and I couldn’t help to make the moment another experience to take pictures. During the journey there started raining and taking pictures during the rain is very nice but also dfficult. I was inside the car when it started raining and I could take some pictures from it. Hopefully later on rain was over and I could take better pictures of buildings and stuff. I’m gonna show you some of the pictures I took. Hope you like them.
This was not the first picture I took, but I want start with it because while I was taking the pictures I found out this spot and this message that says Life happening and it goes in correspondence with what I’m doing, taking pictures of life happening, from raining to people walking, taking cars, etc. and it’s funny because there’s a song that says life is what happens to you when you’re busy doing other things, I think this song is from John Lennon and it’s very true because life is actually what happens to you when you are busy doing other things.
I could say this was the first picture I took. I was inside the car while raining, and these people were waiting for the bus stop and they were grouped protecting themselves from the rain
This is like the other side of the coin, last picture all people were protecting from the rain. But These kids look like they are not afraid at all and they’re just taking a bath running around playing around in the water. There was like a lot of water and they were having fun in the water, very nice actually
This is a hospital where people are born usually people from the countryside because there’s another hospital for people that live in Havana, but usually the people that are born here are from the countryside like another provinces it is called Maternidad Obrera
Here I stopped to eat a hotdog and this is a building in the back with the sign. It’s a hotel used to be a Hilton hotel back in the days but now it’s just a hotel that is called Havana libre. I looked up and I saw a perfect picture because you can see the sign of the Hotel in blue and I realize this picture and I wanted to do like a sepia color
This is another hotel called Aston it is more modern and I really like that architecture.
Remember the Havana Libre hotel sign? Well, this is the one that you see in the front of the picture and the other one that you see the whole hotel is called Torre K. There’s a lot of disagreement between people in Havana about this hotel because they say that the architecture of this hotel is not related to the Havana's architecture and they say also that is really ugly and stuff like that. I think it’s just another Hotel and I really liked it honestly
I really love this picture because you can see the Cuban flag in the back and also the street and all the trees and the color. The green colors are really nice in contrast with the colorful city*
Well, it seems like I took a lot of pictures of Hotels, but that actually is not true, first because there are not a lot of hotels around and also because I took so many pictures of a lot of places in Havana yesterday, but I would like these pictures in another post. Hope you like them.

Caminando y tomando fotos en La Habana.
Una de las cosas que más disfruto es ir a lugares para caminar y tomar fotografías. Parece que nunca es suficiente. Es un verdadero placer ir recorriendo las calles y capturando imágenes; cada ángulo ofrece algo distinto. Es como conectar con el momento presente, tal cual es. Sin juicios, simplemente tomando fotos al encontrar ese pequeño lugar perfecto para disparar la cámara. Pues bien, ayer me encontraba en La Habana.
Fui allí porque tenía algunos recados que hacer para mi madre, pero no pude evitar convertir el momento en una oportunidad para tomar fotos. Durante el trayecto empezó a llover; fotografiar bajo la lluvia es algo muy agradable, aunque también difícil. Estaba dentro del coche cuando comenzó a llover y pude tomar algunas fotos desde allí. Afortunadamente, más tarde paró de llover y pude sacar mejores fotos de los edificios y otras cosas. Les voy a mostrar algunas de las imágenes que tomé. Espero que les gusten.
Esta no fue la primera foto que tomé, pero quiero empezar con ella porque, mientras fotografiaba, descubrí este lugar y este mensaje que dice "Life happening" (La vida sucediendo). Esto encaja perfectamente con lo que hago: fotografiar la vida mientras sucede, desde la lluvia hasta la gente caminando, tomando coches, etc. Es curioso, porque hay una canción que dice que la vida es lo que te sucede mientras estás ocupado haciendo otras cosas; creo que es de John Lennon, y es muy cierto, porque la vida es, en realidad, lo que te pasa mientras estás ocupado haciendo otras cosas.
Podría decir que esta fue la primera foto que tomé. Estaba dentro del coche mientras llovía; había gente esperando en la parada del autobús, agrupada para protegerse de la lluvia.
Es como la otra cara de la moneda: en la foto anterior, todos se protegían de la lluvia. Pero estos niños no parecen tener miedo en absoluto; simplemente se están dando un baño, corriendo y jugando en el agua. Había mucha agua y se estaban divirtiendo; la verdad es que es una escena muy agradable.
Este es un hospital donde nacen bebés, generalmente hijos de personas del campo, ya que existe otro hospital para los residentes de La Habana; la mayoría de quienes nacen aquí provienen de zonas rurales o de otras provincias. Se llama Maternidad Obrera.
Aquí me detuve a comer un perrito caliente; al fondo se ve un edificio con un letrero. Es un hotel que antiguamente fue un Hilton, pero ahora se llama Habana Libre. Miré hacia arriba y vi una imagen perfecta, ya que se puede apreciar el letrero azul del hotel; quise darle un tono sepia a la foto.
Este es otro hotel llamado Aston; es más moderno y realmente me gusta su arquitectura.
¿Recuerdan el letrero del hotel Habana Libre? Bueno, es el que se ve en primer plano en la foto; el otro, del cual se ve el edificio completo, se llama Torre K. Hay mucha controversia entre la gente de La Habana sobre este hotel, ya que dicen que su arquitectura no guarda relación con el estilo de la ciudad; también comentan que es muy feo y cosas por el estilo. Yo creo que es simplemente otro hotel y, sinceramente, me gustó mucho.
Me encanta esta foto porque se puede ver la bandera cubana al fondo, así como la calle, los árboles y el colorido. Los tonos verdes contrastan muy bien con la ciudad llena de color.
Parece que tomé muchas fotos de hoteles, pero en realidad no es así; primero, porque no hay tantos hoteles por la zona y, además, porque ayer fotografié muchos otros lugares de La Habana, pero prefiero compartir esas imágenes en otra publicación. Espero que les gusten.
