Looking good is good business, that is the regular saying of my then Boss (Mr Paul).
Should I go for colour White, red, blue, green,e.t.c? This is what I have to struggle with everyday when it comes to dressing. It's so confusing when it gets to the idea of picking the right colour for the right day. Finally when I decided on colour, how to combine it becomes another huge challenge.
I remember picking a black gown just to save the day, then I didn't want to wear all round black so someone doesn't start suggesting it's a mourning day, then combination became another issue, should I wear a brown shoes , then I'll need a brown bag, or should I use I pink bag🛍️, maybe green 💚 will come out better? These are some of the daily challenges that comes with dressing up for work every morning.
And then we talk about Sundays as a Christian that doesn't miss Sunday service, sometimes I have to decide on weather I'm wearing a native dress or an English wear.
For important occasions, I prefer picking up my dresses, days ahead of the occasion, so I can try to iron it, check out the necessary accessories if there is a need for it, keep my shoes and handbags👜, cause I don't want anything to go wrong for important occasions because when dressing becomes impromptu on days like that, it could change the whole mood of the event.
For everyday dressing, I'm not really in the habit of arranging my dresses ahead, so I'll say I just get up, go to the wardrobe and pick any dress that is at least not rumpled and presentable enough for the day.
I remember one Friday morning, I woke up late and I just wanted to pick up something to wear so I won't be late for work, unfortunately, I couldn't get any native dress that was properly ironed and presentable enough for work, that was the day I realized the importance of picking up dresses ahead of time , I was left with no choice than to wear a shirt and trousers to work, and then I got their looking different from everyone else at work. That akward feeling that could have been avoided if I took my time to plan and put my wears in order.
This is something I will like to work on, at least prepare my wears on weekly basis, get the right shoes well polished, prepare my handbags, wigs when necessary and at least be sure there won't be any flumps for the whole week, I'm sure if I'm able to do that consistently, I won't have to do impromptu dressing all the time.
I realized that dressing sometimes makes me late for work, most times thinking of what to wear, how to combine it, what occasion it goes for. Like the diner party I was to attend few years back, I searched my wardrobe over and over and I couldn't get a nice dinner wear, it was like a day to the party, I had no choice than to rush off to the market, thank God I still had a few change left, I had to get a new dress for the event, then I imagined how I would have attended
if I didn't have that money at that time.
Dressing is very important to an individual cause like they say, the way you dress is the way you will be addressed so take your time and love your look.
