...and when it is all over
If it will ever be over.
I shall gather my remains
And leave without bargains
This hurrying time and tide
Could you slow down?
This fast approaching Yuletide,
Could you pause and ponder?
What is the purpose
Of this beating heart?
My heart grows heavier
With each passing day
Of this fast ebbing year
Another 365 days
Just walking by.
Ironically, the days pull down
A Yuletide smile
Of numerous generations
of harmattan and wintered faces
Blistered lips of good tidings
Evidencing once succulent lips
Of yester-season
Light candles and deck your trees
Catch the glimmering snowflakes
Of a disappearing year
And down this horizon,
Evade circling dusty wind
Of fine earth.
Be that as it may,
We do not need an excuse to party
We can have fun
Without a characterized festivity
Of a Jesus' feast
Nor a yearly migration to hometowns
