Standing in this newness
With a buoyant smile
Well sculpted on my face,
Do I not remember with nostalgia
The yesteryear.
I was a little Rose petal
Standing in the midst of grasses
Tears caressed my face
On every starless night
When the stubborn grasses breathed
What happened to my brothers?
I see they have been trampled
By the kids that played
on the lawn yesterday.
I heard Peter tell the maids
About mowing the lawn
Now, my members lay
In severed petals of
Bleeding nectar
My people died a million times
Before the mowing...
They have always been trampled upon
By Peter's refusal to water them
Hunger was in the land
And our beautiful petals withered
Beyond recognition.
Our neighbors
In the adjacent courtyard made fun of us
And whenever we scattered to breed
We are seen as grasses.
But then,
Our buds started shooting again
Could it be a new beginning
For my people.
I feel a cool breeze
And my petals billow in this breeze
Be that as it may,
Let's keep hope alive for better days...
Peter still owned the courtyard.
