Today a totally different post, for variation I switch from cold winter to summer. Sorry, but still a post from one of my hikes :-).
Where I live we are surrounded with lots of peaks, one of this is a mountain called Læigastind, the hike up to the plateau is 6,8 km. This was the first time I was on this mountain. A day in middle of Juli with nice weather my family and I took the trip.
The hike start below the treeline and gradually we got higher up in the terrain.
The goal in the bacground. The last 3 km are the steepest.
A little river have found the way under the ground and shaped the rocks.
It is alway nice to see flowers, they grow on the most unbelievable places.
Even it is Juli there is still snow in the mountain.
Some sheeps are curious, what are you doing here?
View towards a the fjord in Gratangen.
Along the trail we came over a skull from a dead reindeer.
Before we started the steepest part we passed a little lake. Even the kids said the water was too cold for bathing.
The trail follow the edge up the mountain, from here it is around 3 km up.
View of the lake we passed higher up in the mountainside.
Reached 1000 m. above sea. Only 300 meters left.
Beneath the peak we had to cross a couple of snowfields.
The flowers grow even here.
View toward Narvik and the fjord Ofoten.
If you look closely you can see my wife beside the snowfield. Here are we above the steepest part up.
The last leg up goes over this snowfield. Above this the mountain flattens out to a quite big plateau.
It is a great 360 degrees view form the top. We counted 5 different fjords.
On the way down.
Are you still here, time to go home now.
Behind we can look back to where we was earlier today.
If you still hang on, I hope you enjoyed the hike up to Læigastinden.
Best regards
Harald
