Yes.. It is very possible to boil out the salt from some foods. This kind of method is used in Nigeria whenever they want to decrease the amount of excess salt present in rice.
I have also tried this method and it worked perfectly for me. It actually happened when I was cooking rice and I mistakenly added some spoon of salts thinking it wasn't enough, so I had to add more to it. When the rice was done, I tasted it and I noticed there was excess salt in the rice. I had to apply the boiling method. I poured the rice inside a pot and added some amount of water just to boil out the salt. After some minutes, I tasted it and I noticed the excess salt has been reduced such that it befits the quantity of the rice. I had to sieve out the salty water from the rice with the use of rice sieve and I got my perfect rice back with reduced salt quantity.
The boiling of salt out of food is just working on the principle known as as separation technique. The fact is that the part of the salt content are able to escape as vapour into the atmosphere through a process known as evaporation. Part of the salt molecules escapes with the vapour and this helps to reduce the salt content.
In addition to that, the water also absorbs the salt automatically during boiling process and that is why it is always preferable to sieve out the water after boiling because it is already mixed with salt which reduces the salt content of the food.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.
