Welcome everybody!
In today's blog, we'll talk about types of knitting yarns and, above all, on a crochet. Throughout the world, this art is experiencing a great renaissance, it has become a very fashionable and desirable skill. You can see the beginnings here too, and my articles will prepare us for this boom and take out the needlework from the 80's to the wide waters of the 21st century and Era 4.0.
I can not start differently than presenting the main characters or yarns. In the 80s mentioned there was nothing. Nothing but anilana, acrylics and cordons - how someone was lucky and "won". But this is the past. In happy present times we have everything to choose from in color. Only how to catch it! I'll help you soon.
Today, embroidering is part of the Slow Wear movement, or respect for clothing. Starting from taking care of the material from which it is made, how it is made, to taking care of it in carrying and care. So let's concentrate on natural materials - for various reasons: health - because they cause less allergies, color - because you get nicer colors on them, comfortable ones because it's really nicer to do them and it's nicer to wear them.
NATURAL WOOL
The most popular yarn was and will be natural wool - ideal for all kinds of winter clothing, warm sweaters, shawls and hats.
There are many types:
-Sheep - the most known of her varieties is shetland, thick and strong, perfect for braid patterns, merynos, thin and delicate or cashmere soft and delicate wool from Himalayan sheep (due to the price usually found only as an admixture to other wool);
-gorabbit - thin and delicate angora - (currently we do not recommend, buying angora is recently boycotted due to poor breeding conditions of these animals!).at - here the mohair reigns - wool from angora goats and kid mohair from their kids (especially popular in some circles in Poland :);
-alpaca wool - considered the best wool in the world, soft, light and nice. Among them, the alpaca baby is the most delicate one, obtained from the undergrowth of young alpacas. Definitely thinner than sheep's wool. Perfectly braided patterns come out of it;
-rabbit - thin and delicate angora - (currently we do not recommend, buying angora is recently boycotted due to poor breeding conditions of these animals!).
THREARDS OF COTTON YARN
The second popular group of yarn is cotton. That is, yarn from cotton yarn fibers. Cotton is a very durable fiber, easy to wash, resistant to high temperature and cooking. It absorbs sweat and water very well. Due to these properties, it is most often used to do spring and summer things.
There are many types of cotton yarn and its blends. The most popular is, of course, yarns of 100% cotton, but it is often combined with silk yarns or synthetics for special properties such as gloss and elasticity.
In the world, PIMA cotton is considered the best cotton - the name comes from an Indian tribe, which originally grown from Peru was the first cotton plant in the United States.
OTHER TYPES OF YARN
Other types of yarn are less popular, but it is also worth mentioning:
-Linen yarn - very hard, not very flexible, usually in the form of a thin string, but let's not be fooled, you can already get it in many interesting colors. It works best for the production of "fishing net" sweaters;
-silk yarn - very thin, delicate, but at the same time warm and pleasant to wear. Ideally suited for the production of openwork scarves and scarves for cool spring and summer evenings;
-the last group are the so-called fancy yarns. It's a huge range of yarns that allow you to get a specific effect. I mean the yarn that imitates fur, yarn with bucle knots, yarn with pompons or sequins, or just such a fashionable tanga shirt, spaghetti type - perfect for making all kinds of decors for the apartment. Below are some examples, because it is impossible to describe them all. We invite you to explore the shops with yarns and experiments.
I hope that I have satisfied your curiosity about yarn :)
Soon, we'll go to more pleasant topics, that is, crochet.
I hope you can not wait, because I am very much.
And today I'm running to the Soap Bubbles Festival.
