There is a spanish novel (and moovie) called Salamis Soldiers. (Salamis is a greek isle where a historic battle took a place).
There is a Spanish entremés made with egg in the form of a soldier. Someone asked: How about we put a salami shield with a toothpick?
The other guy answered: He would be a salami soldier.
