Nehal and I have finally reached our destination, but a locked door stands in our way. I used my Eagle Vision to search for the soldier holding it. I spotted a soldier standing right in the middle of the open hall, and he was the one carrying the key.
Entering that hall right now is risky because it is swarming with soldiers. I need to make my way past them without being spotted. I learned a new trick today, whistling. Basically, if you whistle from a spot, a soldier will leave his original position to investigate the source of the sound, thereby moving away from where he was standing.
I put this very trick to use. I whistled to the three soldiers, drawing them out and shifting their positions. The soldier holding the key was left alone. Seizing the opportunity, I quietly approached him and knocked him out.
I hid his body in the garden because if anyone saw the body, it would rise suspicion. Once the body was hidden, I took the key from him, quickly returned, unlocked the door, and went inside.
After entering, I saw that box. King Caliph, his son, and other soldiers were also present there. King Caliph appeared deeply worried. He ordered all his soldiers and his son to leave the place.
After everyone had left, a group of three or four people suddenly entered, all wearing masks. They opened the box in front of the Caliph, glanced at the object inside, closed the box again, and began to leave. Just then, the Caliph asked what was inside it.
Once everyone else had left, Nehal and I quietly went over to the box and opened it.
Inside, there was a disc like object. The moment I picked it up, a light suddenly emanated from it, projecting a moving scene. It seemed as though someone’s memory had been stored there, and what was playing out was the content of that memory, much like a projector, haha.
Just as the scene with the projector began, King Caliph appeared and tried to snatch it from my hands. But I didn't hand it over to him and a scuffle broke out between us.
At one point during the struggle, Khalif nearly strangled me to death. Just then, Nehal came up from behind, drove a knife straight into Khalif's throat, and killed him.
Things took a really bad turn. Stealing the item and leaving wouldn't have caused nearly as much trouble as the King's death is bound to cause now. Staying in this city is going to become difficult for us. we tried to flee the scene. But by then, the guards had already arrived. Nehal and I got separated and managed to escape the palace, each finding our own way out.
I quickly returned to our hideout. I found that Nehal hadn't reached there yet. I became worried, realizing that the whole thing was entirely my fault. If I hadn't gone to do that task, today's problem wouldn't have arisen. I was overcome with a regret.
