Saturn

Decorated with large rings and an imposing presence, Saturn is not lost in space, its beauty is there for those who come to see her.

A new planet in sight! that's right, Saturn is here as the fourth piece of the Planetary Collection, 7 to go, because of course I plan to include the moon and the sun, I feel they will be very bright, oh yeah.

-Step 1:

As almost a rule, I have started with the sketch, but as it is practically a layer of only a couple of lines, I have decided to start by showing you directly the volume base in grays (see the GIF below so you don't miss any step). There are not too many complications here, I mostly focused on sketching the metal ornaments, but only their shapes.

-Step 2:

Now comes the transition from grays to color, for this I created a new layer, set it in the "color" blend mode and made the layer a clipping layer, so I can have the base color of the skin and the metal without altering the work done in grays.

-Step 3:

In a new layer, I proceeded to detail the face, giving an intense black to the hair, I experimented making it white, but it didn't fit very well with the colors of the background planet, so I gave up that idea.

Likewise, I started to make the metal ornaments, you can see that I have only made the ones on the right side, the thing is that I had in mind to duplicate that layer and flip it over to have instantly ready all the ornaments and also in symmetry.

-Step 4:

And voila! the ornaments are ready, but I had to add more brightness, because a problem that was dragging the illustration is that all the colors were in very similar tones, so there was no great contrast between the skin, the ornaments and the planet, so I had to add a more pink shading to the skin.

And please ignore those brush strokes in the background, I was testing what they would look like as a texture, but no, they didn't fit at all.

-Step 5:

Only the girl standing in front of the planet looked very empty, so I started to experiment with some shapes similar to the metal she is wearing and I liked them, as well as those little stars that are hanging, I think I will keep adding them to the other planets.

Something that I think Uranus lacked, was the colorful texture of the background, like Pluto and Neptune had, so I sacrificed the contrast with that black in the background, for something lighter and more colorful, but this makes the girl integrate more to the illustration, which makes me very happy.
