I was walking in a multi functional nature, sporting and recreation area near the town of Veenedaal in the Netherlands! it's a campsite, hiking and mountain bike trails and even a dirt track for of road bikes! Then all off a sudden, my eye fell on these two woman who were looking at some fences in the middle of the dirt track!
And of cours that made me a bit curious! So I walked over there and found this! Fences and barrier tape!
There were two puddles put in the fences all the way around! First I thought that they did this because to protect the dirt track from damaging! because we all know those dirt bike riders, they all want to hit those puddles!
But when I look further I saw a little sign with the words "rugstreeppad bescherming" ore natterjack toad protection!
This is an endangered species in the Netherlands and after some big rain storms, a couple of those frogs decided that a puddle like that was a good location to put there eggs in there! i now know why they are endagerd... 馃槀
But it was so warm back then that he puddles were drying out! So the local nature preservation organisation rolled out a hose and a pump and started filling up the puddles again!
