The title of my post is a little misleading! I am entering this contest not with summer pictures but with autumn pictures!
For the past 38 day's it didn't rain in the Netherlands and that's a long period! It also was pretty warm here, around 25 til 30 degrees Celsius! Yes, that is way to hot for me! that is why I don't like summers! And for me as a photographer, the sunrises are also way to early in summer! To capture a good sunrise at 05:15, I need to go out of bed around 3:30... Yeah, I pass!
But my entry is totally the opposite of what I just told here! It is a flooded autumn forest post!
We are in national park the Veluwe, and this is the longest creek that runs trough it! It's a bit special because if you know the Netherlands, you know it is one of the flattest country's in the world so there are not many mountains or hills were water can follow a natural course!
But the Veluwe is a nature reserve that was "born" 150 thousand years ago, during the last ice age!
The flowing mass of land ice created a little valley where the creek is flowing now! A big plate of clay prevents the water from sinking into the soil! The highest point of the Veluwe is whooping 109 meters.... The creek is about 17 km long!
For the biggest part there is a hiking trail along the creek, like here in this picture! As you see, when it rains a lot, the chance that the forest is flooded is big!
The forest also got some mountain bike trails around it, as you can see here.
But over all, it's just awesome to walk here when the stream has overflowed its banks!
And if there is a nice golden hour after sunrise, witch is around 8:30 than, and there is a little fog rising from the water, it's just a magical place!
