I wrote 9 years at Disney before and some folks wanted to hear about more. So I decided to tell the story while my memory is still fresh.
My daughter was born in January 2007 and I got the green card in April the same year through a small start-up company I was working at. I wanted to stay with the company for couple more years to honor its help but business wasn't good enough. So I had to find a new job. Below is an excerpt from a journal entry at that time.
So I sent out my resume to couple companies.
Rhythm & Hues, DreamWorks, Disney, Blizzard ...
And Midway LA, Disney VR Studio, Heavy Iron Studios via DAM...Among those, I had phone interviews with Midway, DreamWorks, Disney VR, and Heavy Iron.
I failed with the Midway, need to do a programming test with the Heavy Iron. Had the in-house interview with Disney VR on the last Thursday. And a phone interview with Blizzard is scheduled on 5/31.I wish I could get a job at Disney VR without the programming test with the Heavy Iron and another interview with Blizzard.
When I was visiting Disney VR, I could meet with Mr. L who worked at Square and the S company. He said Disney VR is a good place to work.
I really enjoyed interviewing there and I like that I could work with Python, C++, and Maya instead of learning new stuff like MFC. Also since being a big company means more stable and I like the style of game they are developing, "family friendly."
They said they'll contact me next week if I get an offer...
