I have not been purchasing a huge amount of silver lately, but this one I had to buy. Got it in an auction for 104 CAD (with the shipping), so about 20 CAD over the spot if we consider the spot today, but it was maybe 4 or 5 CAD more when I bought it. This is a very well-done art piece made by Rogue's Island Mint. This mint is a non-governmental mint located in Rhode Island, US. Never had anything from them,m but this one deserved a bit more attention.
The thematic is Nosferatu, celebrating its 100th anniversary of release. The Coin was minted in 2022, exactly 100 years after the release of the silent horror movie and probably the first famous movie featuring a vampire. And the recent remake of this character in 2024 showed us how important and different this vampire was. The recent movie got even four Academy Award nominations, which is rare for a horror movie.
What is cooler about the coin is that it brings the horror atmosphere with a solar eclipse; Count Orlok (Nosferatu) is indeed a creature to bring fear. I would really recommend, especially the remake of Nosferatu, to be watched. And the art of this coin showing the face of Nosferatu, the city shadows at the bottom, and the solar eclipse is also kind of special.
The coin has an interesting mintage of 1922 coins. So only I and more than 1921 people now have this coin; in addition that comes with a certificate of authenticity and a nice pouch from the mint. However, I decided to put it in a capsule just in case. The reverse has the Mint symbol and name on a very polished background, giving the "mirror-like" feature to the coin. That gives a different texture from the background with the face of Nosferatu that brings more of a foggy texture with air particles in the air.
This is an interesting coin for horror fans like me and also those who love Silver. I also got a package from a seller with many pieces that I will probably post about and give some updates about the collection.
