What One Dollar Means To Me

One dollar, we’ve all seen it, we all had it, but It doesn’t worth that much, it is not enough to build something amazing and in some countries, it’s not enough to buy even one coffee, but for me, it holds a more significant meaning.

I live in Romania, we don’t use dollars here most of the time, as part of UE we use RON for our daily purchases and Euros for business but not dollars. Last time I cashed out some money I decided that I want to get some dollars, that I want to get one dollar.

Some Stories

Of course, I can get dollars at any exchange, but as I was talking with my friend Matt (@thethirdeye), I made a bargain with him. He just made a post, and I was going to upvote it anyway, but as a joke, because he had some dollars at home and gave me one to give him an upvote. The first time someone bought votes on Steem with fiat, haha.

For the Americans, a dollar is something trivial since that’s their currency but for me, it’s something amazing since I saw them only in pictures before and now holding one and analyzing it in depth is rather interesting, it’s a symbol.

Before I tell you what it means to me let me tell you a quick story, about four months ago, my goal was to make at least one dollar on all of my posts without using any “tricks”. Like bid bots or minnowsupport, which I have used both in my early days but after I have accomplished that I realized how low my goals were and I decided to make it 10X and a few weeks ago I accomplished that.

All I wanted for an extended period was one constant dollar on my posts, but after I got there, the struggle to go higher was pretty tough. For months I have tried to get support through different methods, and I am finally where I wanted to be a long time ago.

The Symbol

The one dollar illustrates all of my days where I was not making anything even if I worked harder than a lot of the people on the platform, the days when I was putting out what I consider as being great content and I was making nothing. It symbolizes a whole journey on this platform and the fact that it is possible to make it here if you work hard enough.

Besides all these, it’s a symbol for all the minnows on this platform that are working their asses off, researching, writing and posting valuable stuff so they can only make one dollar or even less most of the times and a few views.

And it also shows that with the right kind of tools you can make money online and have a life that you are satisfied with, it shows that if you have the right kind of determination anything you have in mind it is possible to achieve.

Anyone that works hard and smart enough can do it.

Now, set your goals so high that you will not be able to accomplish them in your life and go out there and work towards them every single day.
