This morning, I noticed something simple yet delightful. A rhizome I planted is showing signs of new growth. Green shoots are emerging from various parts of the rhizome, and some have already grown quite tall.
At first glance, it looked like an ordinary rhizome nothing special to see. Yet, after planting and tending to it, that small piece has given rise to so much new life.
It reminds me that in farming, we don't always see immediate results. There are times when the soil looks bare, and all we can do is wait. We water, weed, maintain soil moisture, and hope the plants thrive.
The same applies to the ginger I am trying to grow. I am still learning how rhizomes develop, how shoots emerge, and how new rhizomes will eventually form underground.
Seeing so many shoots makes me increasingly curious about the final outcome. Will the rhizomes grow large? How much yield can I get from a single seed piece? The answers will only come with time.
For now, I am simply enjoying the process.
Because farming isn't just about the harvest. It is also about learning patience, observing small changes day by day, and trusting that what we plant today can become something valuable in the future. 馃尡
