The sky looks a bit dim this morning. A thin mist hangs low on the horizon, veiling a row of coconut trees and the distant hills beyond. The atmosphere is profoundly quiet a soothing kind of silence, broken only by the gentle rustle of the wind brushing against the rice stalks and the distinct, earthy scent of damp soil rising into the air.

A black asphalt road stretches straight ahead, cutting through the expanse of green. To the right, rice plants grow lush and dense, promising a harvest for the farmers who tend to them daily with their sweat and prayers. To the left, the red-brick skeleton of a building stands in progress piles of sand, sturdy concrete pillars, and a foundation still taking shape.

Taking in this scene, I pause for a moment. There is a beautiful contrast here: nature growing in its own organic way, alongside a human creation being slowly pieced together. Both are manifestations of a process. Rice requires a long season of cultivation before it is ready for harvest; likewise, a house cannot be built in a single night.

Sometimes, in life, we are too eager to see the final result. We want to reach our destination immediately, forgetting to enjoy the journey. Yet, much like this quiet road amidst the rice fields, every step we take holds its own unique beauty. We simply need to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, quiet the noisy rhythm of our minds, and observe our surroundings.

Traversing this path is more than just a physical journey from one point to another; it is a moment to catch one’s breath, recalibrate one’s thoughts, and feel gratitude for the tranquility that can still be found in the midst of simplicity.
