This is a dear friend of mine who turned 29 this year and you can see some snapshots into the work
First I made an outline of her, a very rough sketch
Then I tend to change things again because I don't usually get it right the first time. Here I only changed the hair a bit
Now the coloring starts; it's quite easy if you select an area and then fill it
