Solo Jazz - Gustavo Figarella.

A Beautiful Concert Day

How lucky I am to be able to make a living doing what I love. It hasn't been an easy road getting to where I am, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Music has given me opportunities and a wealth of experiences that, to this day, I believe no other profession or art could ever give me.

To play, to sing, and to fight was the motto that Maestro José Antonio Abreu chose for the System of Orchestras, and this simple phrase truly holds incredible power, because my life is summarized in that: To Play, to Sing, and to Fight...

Guitar in hand and wearing the representative tricolor jacket, I perform alongside my orchestra, fighting for what I believe is important for me and for the country.

Solo Jazz - Gustavo Figarella.

Today was one of those days where music made its presence felt at the Casa Amarilla in San Juan de los Morros. The Henry Rubio Orchestra (the ensemble where I work) premiered several new pieces, one of which is titled: Solo Jazz.

This piece is very exotic within the context of the orchestra, because all the instruments we play are traditional Venezuelan ones and are not directly related to jazz (only the drums and the guitar).

Being able to play a piece like this for this format represents an unprecedented innovation, since it is not just about playing jazz, but doing so under a luxury orchestration thanks to Maestro Gustavo Figarella, who is an international reference for Venezuelan music.
